poll violence 11 arrested attacking journalists and looting ballot papers

Jajpur ,Feb21 : At least  11  miscreants  including six women  were arrested on Monday  for allegedly being involved in incidents of violence that occurred in   Jajpur district on     Sunday during the third   phase of the three tier Gram Panchayat election.

 We arrested 11 persons under the charges of looting  two ballot boxes  from  booth no 4 and 6 in Bachala Panchayat under Binjharpur block of Jajpur district on Sunday and assaulting  three journalists of electronic media- Debashis Sahoo, Bijay  Sahoo and Gulunawaj Khan when they were video- graphing  the  loot of ballot boxes from  the booths .

All the accused persons have been identified as Rakesh Mallick, Niranjan Mallick, Chandramani Mallick, Naba Kishor Mallick, Lalatendu Mallick, Sabita Mallick, Rina Mallick, Kabita Mallick, Lipi Mallick ,Bhanumati Mallick and Tikili Mallick of village Bamadebpur. They were booked under 147, 148, 149 , 323, 324, 427,307,365, 395 and 342,    said the Superintendent of Police , Jajpur , Rahul P.R.

Five persons sustained injuries on Sunday night when the supporters of two Sarpanch candidates clashed with each others at village Gobardhanpur under Tamaka police station in Jajpur district.
