JAJPUR, JULY 6 : Dharamasala MLA Himanshu sekhar Sahoo on Friday joined a programme at the Government High School, Deuda in Dharamasala on the occasion of the 75th Van Mahotsav Week.Himanshu Said “On the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Ek Paid Maa Ke Naam’ campaign is going on across the country. It calls for planting trees at individual levels and uploading photos.
The highest number of 1 lakh 48 thousand photos have been uploaded in Odisha so far in this campaign”.He Said The public’s participation in this campaign, which was started on the call of the Prime Minister, is very encouraging.
Among all the states, Odisha is at the forefront of encouraging the campaign amongst other states. Our Chief Minister said that there is a target of planting 5 crore trees across the state.
As our population is four and a half crore, we should plant at least four and a half crore trees in this campaign, he said “Plant a tree today for a better tomorrow.”
The significance of forest cover and tree plantation cannot be stressed upon enough, and their importance has only increased in the present scenario, with global warming and climate change being very real threats to our planet and all its inhabitants.
Tree plantation refers to the transplantation of saplings or sowing of seeds in order to facilitate green cover and promote afforestation. Tree plantation can be a very fulfilling and fruitful activity! Not only is it good for the environment and the earth, but it is also a way in which you can help in making the world a better and cleaner place to live in, as trees help to bring down the levels of pollution.
The earth is home to not just us but trees as well, and trees, in turn, are home to a variety of birds and animals such as monkeys, koalas, owls, tree frogs, pythons, etc. So, by erasing trees from the face of the earth and destroying green cover, we are destroying the homes of all these creatures as well.
