Odisha’s high-profile woman blackmailer Archana Nag honey-trapped 25 influential persons, including 18 MLAs, alleges BJP

BHUBANESWAR, OCT. 14: Ever since woman blackmailer Archana Nag was arrested for allegedly extorting money from many high-profile people, startling details continue to tumble out every single day.

In the latest development in the case, the BJP on Thursday alleged that it has a list of 25 influential persons, including 18 MLAs of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) who were honey-trapped by Nag. The matter has now surcharged the political atmosphere in the state ahead of the crucial Dhamnagar assembly by-poll scheduled to be held on November 3.

“We have a list of 25 influential persons, including 18 MLAs of the ruling BJD, who have close links with Archana Nag. The police must come forward and reveal their names. Or else, we will continue to protest against the police inaction,” said Bhubaneswar unit BJP president Babu Singh.

“There are reports that majority of the MLAs involved in the sex racket of Archana are from the ruling BJD led by Naveen Patnaik. We strongly believe that there is hush-hush handling of the case by police to protect the government from getting collapsed because of the involvement of ministers and MLAs in the sex scandal. We demand a free and fair probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT),” said Senior Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja.

There was no reaction from any leaders of the ruling BJD.

Though a girl who forced into flesh trade by Archanda had lodged a complaint against the latter at Khandagiri police station here and spilled the beans on her illicit deal, the police did not show any interest to probe the allegations and record the statement under Section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The photographs of Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand with many politicians and influential persons have gone viral on social media. Some politicians admitted to knowing Nag while some others denied any link. However, the police are allegedly not actively probing those angles.  

Notably, Archana and her husband earned quick money by recording sex videos of influential persons and blackmailing them. However, her plan to trap film producer Akshay Parija backfired and she landed behind bars.
