Odisha records highest single-day Covid-19 surge of 346 cases

BHUBANESWAR, JULY 3: Odisha on Sunday witnessed the highest single-day Covid-19 surge with the state reporting 346 new positive cases.
While 202 cases were reported from quarantine, 144 were local contact cases. According to the information shared by the state health department, of the new infections, 49 cases were reported in the 0-18 age group.
Khurdha reported the highest 189 new cases followed by Cuttack (51), Sundargarh (13), Sambalpur (5), Rayagada (5), Bhadrak (4) and Puri (4). The state pool registered 41 cases.
With the fresh addition, the number of active cases in the state jumped to 1310. As many as 71 new recoveries were detected in the last 24 hours.
Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the state has recorded 12,90,538 confirmed cases. While 12,80,049 patients have recovered so far, 9,126 patients have succumbed to the virus.
