Odisha Governor faces allegation of campaigning for Cong candidate in Nagaland

BHUBANESWAR, FEB. 16: Nagaland unit of BJP has accused Odisha Governor Dr S C Jamir of campaigning for the Congress and a regional party in the state and urged the Chief Electoral Officer to look into the matter, – reports said on Friday. According to reports, the BJP on Thursday filed a complaint against Jamir with the office of Chief Electoral Officer in Kohima, accusing the former Congress leader of “threatening” democracy with his action.

“The Odisha Governor has been camping in the state and is campaigning for particualr candidates of the Congress and the regional party – Naga People’s Front,” the BJP’s state unit chief Visasolie Lhoungu said.

Jamir should uphold the integrity and decorum of his office and should not take part in elections, Lhounga said.

The State assembly polls are due on February 27.
