Odisha Cabinet approves 15 proposals; revised budget 2022-23 and budget estimate for next fiscal get nods

Bhubaneswar, Feb. 13: The Odisha Cabinet which met here on Monday evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the revised budget for the year 2022-23 and the annual budget estimate or draft budget for the year 2023-24.
Sources said the annual budget estimate for the year 2023-24 has been pegged Rs 2,30,000 crore, at least 12 per cent more than the previous fiscal.
In toto, the Cabinet approved 15 proposals received from finance, mass education, pachayati raj and other departments.
The Cabinet also approved construction of 237 boys’ hostels for Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas at the cost of Rs 1,000.14 crore. The 100-bedded boys’ hostels will further improve learning infra inside campus, thereby helping students achieve academic excellence, said Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra .
The Cabinet also approved creation of 6,025 LTR (leave training reserve) posts in various categories of teaching posts which will address the issue of shortage of teachers in government secondary schools due to leave, training and leave on medical ground.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal for construction of 130 million-litres per day (MLD) drinking water treatment plant at Mundali barrage in Cuttack to uninterrupted water supply to Bhubaneswar. At least Rs 286.73 crore has been allocated for this, the CS said.
The Cabinet also approved to reduce the Value Added Tax on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by one per cent.
The Cabinet amended MSME Development Policy and Food Processing Policy.
The Cabinet approved a proposal for providing 5 acres of land free of cost to Trilochan Netralaya at Sambalpur. Similarly, it approved a proposal to provide 40 acres of land to Vile Parley University at Jatni. The University will provide 30 per cent of seats free of cost to poor students of Odisha, the CS said.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal to provide compensation to the next of kind of prisoners dying in jails in the state.
The Cabinet approved a proposal of amendment to Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1992 that would allow single dependent transgender person to avail family pension in case of death of her parents in government service.
