Noted freedom fighter dies

Jajpur,Nov.24 : Noted freedom fighter,  Dadhichi Sahoo     (98) of village  Kaipada  under Bari block   in Jajpur  district  died  on  Tuesday  evening. He   worked with the noted freedom fighters Malati Chaudhury , Nabakrushna Chaudhury , Harekrushna Mahatab  , Gopabandhu Chaudhury ,   Rama Devi  and others during the freedom movement.

A pall of gloom descended following news of his death spread in the locality.  He was felicitated by the  President of India   in 2015, 2017 and 2019 on the eve of Independence  Day. 12    years back  , he also participated in the  reenactment of the historic Mahatma Gandhi’s Padayatra of 1934 in the village  to observe  the 75 anniversary of the march.

Jajpur collector  Chakravarti Singh Rathore  , former minister Prafulla Ghadei, Bari MLA Sunanda Das , Most popular columnist  Engineer Tara Prasad Mishra  ,Er Arun patanaik and   others condoled the death of the veteran freedom fighter. His body was consigned to flame at the cremation ground in his village .
