Naveen visits 3 western Odisha districts, launches projects worth Rs 3,081 crore

Biju Expressway, Biju Economic Corridor inaugurated

Bhubaneswar, March 5: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday visited three districts of Western Odisha – Bargarh, Nuapada and Kalahandi – on the birth anniversary of legendary statesman and former Chief Minister of Odisha inaugurated several completed projects, including the much awaited Biju Expressway at Amapani and the Biju Economic Corridor from Sohela to Amapani.

He also laid foundation stones for multiple projects.

In Bargarh, he also joined an 18-km long road-show during his visit.

Addressing a public rally at Sohela Haldipali ground, the CM said he did not believe in words but works.

“I don’t believe in words or tall talks. I believe in work,” he said.

During his one-day visit to Kalahandi, Nuapada and Bargarh, Patnaik also launched various projects worth Rs 3,081 crore in three districts.

The CM also provided Rs 42 crore loan assistance with zero interest rate to the members of Mission Shakti groups in Bargarh, Nuapada and Kalahandi district.

Addressing the gatherings organized on the occasion, Patnaik said that “Biju Expressway is not just a road, it is the lifeline of the western Odisha region.”

Claiming that the Biju Expressway would bring multiple opportunities to the region, the CM said it would lead to further development of market facilities for farmers.

The CM said that the construction of the Biju Economic Corridor on both sides of the Biju Expressway from Sohela to Amapani will increase investment and create new industries.

Patnaik announced an additional 30 percent discount will be given to investors as an incentive to attract investors to the Biju Economic Corridor. Advance land acquisition has also been initiated to facilitate industrial development, he added.

The residents of Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri will be especially benefited by the Biju Economic Corridor.

In Bargarh district alone, the CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 234 projects worth Rs 217 crore.
