My rallies more popular than Rahul Gandhi’s, says Congress troubleshooter Kamal Nath’s son

New Delhi,Dec 20 : In a major embarrassment for the Congress, senior party leader and ace troubleshooter Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath claimed that his rally was more popular and saw bigger crowds than former party president Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

A video shared by several BJP leaders shows Nakul Nath state that the turnout at his rally was more than at Rahul Gandhi’s many public meetings in Madhya Pradesh during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“I went all over Madhya Pradesh alongside Rahul Gandhi. But I want to tell the people of Berasia that there are more crowds here than in the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Nakul Nath is heard saying in the clip.

Sharing the video of the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister’s son, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala took a dig at the Gandhi scion and said, “When Congress leaders don’t consider him [Rahul Gandhi] a leader how will other allies & India take him seriously?”

Nakul Nath is the son of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath and represents the Chhindwara constituency in the Lok Sabha. His remarks, seemingly critical of Rahul Gandhi, come barely two weeks after he was seen walking with the Wayanad MP as the Bharat Jodo Yatra wended its way through Madhya Pradesh.

Significantly, Nakul Nath’s father Kamal Nath, besides being a former CM and Union minister, has a reputation as a veteran troubleshooter. Kamal Nath was often deployed by former party chief Sonia Gandhi to resolve crises and broker peace in restive state units.

More recently, Kamal Nath was reportedly roped in to mediate in the latest upheaval within the factionalism-wracked Rajasthan Congress, when Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot grew miffed with the party top brass after being denied the post of Congress president and feuded with CM aspirant Sachin Gehlot.
