Mumbai flat worth Rs 1 crore, Audi car: Gujarat’s ‘richie rich’ thief in police net

Gujarat, July 6 :  Gujarat police recently arrested a seasoned thief with a long history of robberies spanning several states. Last month, Rohit Kanubhai Solanki landed in police net in connection with a theft of Rs 1 lakh in Vapi. However, the police got the shock of their lives after a probe revealed the luxurious lifestyle of Solanki, who has confessed to 19 robberies.

During their investigation, the police learnt that Solanki lived in a lavish flat worth over Rs 1 crore in Mumbai’s Mumbra area and drove an Audi car.

During interrogation, Solanki confessed to 19 robberies. These included three in Valsad, one in Surat, one in Porbandar, one in Selwal, two in Telangana, two in Andhra Pradesh, two in Madhya Pradesh, and one in Maharashtra. He also admitted to committing six more thefts in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh through bribery.

He has a history of crimes across multiple states. The police also came to know that Solanki changed his name to Arhan to marry a Muslim woman.

The Valsad district police also uncovered the modus operandi of Solanki. Solanki stayed in luxury hotels to commit thefts, travelled by flight and booked hotel cabs during the day. He conducted reconnaissance in societies during the day to plan his thefts.

The accused enjoys partying in dance bars and nightclubs in Mumbai, said police. According to the police, he is also addicted to drugs, spending Rs 1.50 lakh monthly.
