‘Make in Odisha’ attracts over Rs 2 lakh crore investment

BHUBANESWAR, DEC. 3: Industrial houses which participated in the three-day ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave here have pledged to invest a whopping over Rs 2 lakh crore investment in the state.
On the concluding day of the conclave on Friday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik thanked the industry captains for their overwhelming response to the summit.
“We have seen an overwhelming response from the industry in the conclave. I am happy to inform you that we have received investment intent in 10 diversified sectors. Besides, the total investment intent received by the state as lead up to this event and during the event this year is to the tune of Rs 2, 03, 270 crore,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said during the valedictory session.
The proposed investments have the potential to generate one lakh forty thousand additional jobs for the people of the state, Mr Patnaik added.
“The Odisha government has decided to set up a special institutional mechanism to ensure grounding of these investments in the shortest possible time. You will witness the transformation happening in the field translating intent to action, investments to production and growth,” he expressed.
Speaking on the Odisha Skill Development Mission, Mr Patnaik said it has an ambitious vision of setting international benchmarks in the skilling of our youth. I’m optimistic that ‘Skilled in Odisha’ will be the buzzword nationally and internationally. Our investment partners will benefit from this initiative having a multi pool of talent at their doorstep and our youth primarily will reap the advantages of this Make in Odisha initiatives.”
Buoyed by the response to the conclave, the state government has decided to organize the event biannually. The next chapter of the conclave is slated to be held next year.
Union Coal, mines and power Minister Piyush Goyal, Union petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan, State Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, CII Odisha Chairman Sanjay Patnaik among others were present on the occasion.
