Major success for security forces as Maoist hideout busted during combing operation

Bhawanipatna, July 10: Dealing a body blow to the Maoists, security forces have busted a Maoist hideout in Odisha’s Nuapada district on the bordering forest area of Chhattisgarh.

Acting on a tip-off, Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on Saturday launched a joint operation in Patdhara forest range under Boden police station in Nuapada district.

As per reports, 60-80 armed Maoists led by Murli alias Sangram Reddy, Debji, Jayaram alias Chhalpati, Kartik alias Dashru, Jayaram alias Guddu, Anju alias Padma, Sangita, Janila, Parvati, Soni opened fire at the security forces.

 “At around 10.10 am on Thursday, the Maoists had opened fire at the security forces during a combing operation. After the forces retaliated, many of them had fled from the region,” Pratyush Dibakar, Nuapada superintendent of police (SP) said.

Ever since, combing operations have been intensified in the area, the SP informed.

In self defence, the security forces returned fire. The forces have recovered an air gun, battery, a walkie talkie set, 4 radios, Bluetooth speaker, 4 solar plates, 11 knives, wire bundles, sewing machine, Maoist uniforms, medicines, contraceptives, pregnancy test kits, and Maoist literature from the seized camp.

The police said seizure  of contraceptives and pregnancy testing kits indicates that the women cadres were subjected to sexual exploitation.
