Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya to donate kidney to him
New Delhi,Nov.10: Ailing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Singapore-based daughter will donate a kidney to her father, a close family member said.
Yadav, 74, returned last month from Singapore where he had gone for treatment of his kidney problems.
The RJD president, who has been suffering from multiple health problems, was advised a kidney transplant.
He has been jailed for his involvement in fodder cases and has been hospitalised several times in Delhi and Ranchi for treatment.
Rohini Acharya, who is very active on Twitter and critical of the Narendra Modi government, resides in Singapore along with her husband and children.
Recently, Lalu Prasad visited Singapore where the doctors subjected him to a series of tests. Along with him, Rohini also underwent the test as a donor and the doctors gave their approval for the transplant.
According to sources, the RJD chief was not willing to undergo the transplant but Rohini, along with other family members, convinced him to undergo a transplant and to accept his daughter as a donor.
Reportedly, Lalu Yadav’s kidneys have suffered 75 per cent damage and he is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi. Though the doctors here denied the permission for a kidney transplant, their Singapore counterparts gave their go-ahead. Transplants in India are governed by strict dos and don’ts.
The transplant is expected to take place on November 24.
