Glory: KIIT University Assistant Professor Dr. K. Sony Reddy wins INS Young Medalist Award

Bhubaneswar, May 22: Dr. K. Sony Reddy from Odisha has been awarded the Medal for Young Scientist of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.

INSA is a body of Indian scientists founded in 1935 with the aim of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. 

This award is considered prestigious and very competitive given to Indian scientists below the age of 40 years and considered to be “the highest recognition of promise, creativity and excellence in a Young Scientist”.  

Dr. K. Sony Reddy has been carrying out his research work and currently working as an Assistant Professor at School of Biotechnology of KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He joined KIIT School of Biotechnology in 2016 as a DST (Department of Science and Technology) – INSPIRE faculty. His outstanding research work on Malaria got recognized for which he got selected by INSA for the prestigious award. This award carried a Medal, Certificate and an Honorarium of One Lakh Rupees.

He is son of late K. Purnachandra Reddy and Mrs. K. Jamuna Reddy of Village Pathara, Kabisuryanagar, Ganjam, Odisha. He did his B.Sc. (Zoology) from Ravenshaw University, M.Sc. (Biotechnology) from University of Hyderabad and Ph.D. from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi.

KIIT Deemed University founder Dr Achyuta Samanta has congratulated Dr Reddy for obtaining the coveted medal.
