Karnataka polls underway: Documents that can be used to cast vote if you’ve lost your voter ID

Karnataka,May 10 :  After a month-long high-decibel election campaign ended on Monday, voting has started in Karnataka amid predictions of a close contest between Congress and BJP. The voting for 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

To be able to cast a vote, one needs a voter ID card, but what if you lost the voter ID? Will you still be able to cast your votes? In all possibilities, you can vote.

Passport, Driving licence, PAN card, Aadhaar, Election slip issued by ECI Office, ID cards issued to employees by central and state government undertakings, Passbook with photographs attested by banks or post office, MGNREGA job card, Pension document with a photograph.

 Election Commission urges young, urban electorates in Karnataka to step out and vote

A total of 5,31,33,054 electors are eligible to cast their votes in 58,545 polling stations across the state. The major political parties in contention are the BJP, Congress, and JD(S) The majority mark to form the government is 113 seats. The counting of votes will take place on May 13.
