India’s G20 Presidency to act a bridge between the Developing and the Developed World

Udaipur, Dec 5: Meetings on the substantive issues of G20 began in earnest on the 5th of December Udaipur, Rajasthan. India is holding its first G20 meeting as G20 Presidentin Udaipur, Rajasthan from 4th to 7th December. Day 2 of the Sherpa Meeting began with delegates getting an overview of India’s G20 Presidency from Indian Sherpa Mr. Amitabh Kant, who shared India’s success manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, and digital transformation sector. Mr. Kant, in his opening remarks, also highlighted India’s responsibility in being the voice of the Global South and using its role as G20 Chair to shine a light on critical issues affecting those in need. The topic of Green Development and Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) was the theme of the 2nd session of the day where it was highlighted that India will bring the agenda on accelerating progress on SDG to the centre stage and would use Data for Development in the Development Working Group. Development, Energy, Climate and DRR were the working groups involved in this session. The delegates made a visit to the Manek Chowk in Udaipur dressed in traditional Rajasthani jackets, turbans and stoles in what is sure to be a treasured memory for both the Delegates as well as the people of Udaipur.
