India supports ‘early, abiding and peaceful resolution’ of Russia-Ukraine conflict: PM Modi to Putin
NEW DELHI, AUG 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday spoke about the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the possibility of a resolution.
“Spoke with President Putin today. Discussed measures to further strengthen Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. Exchanged perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and my insights from the recent visit to Ukraine. Reiterated India’s firm commitment to support an early, abiding, and peaceful resolution to the conflict,” said PM Modi on Tuesday.
PM Modi recently returned from Ukraine and said that he had gone there with a message of peace. PM Modi spoke with US President Joe Biden on Monday and also mentioned that he was hopeful of an early resolution of the conflict which began on February 24, 2022.
Meanwhile, PM Modi also recalled his successful visit to Russia last month where he took part in the 22nd India-Russia Bilateral Summit. He underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as well as sincere and practical and abiding and peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Meanwhile, President Putin appraised PM Modi of the assessment of the destruction caused by Ukraine and their supporters in the West. President Putin reportedly told PM Modi how Russia intended to resolve the conflict.
President Putin also spoke about the upcoming BRICS Summit to be held in Kazan in October this year, which according to a readout by Kremlin will be attended by PM Modi.
The two leaders discussed agreements in the trade and economic sphere that were talked about during PM Modi’s visit to Moscow in July this year.
The two leaders agreed to stay in touch for further bilateral issues regarding the two countries and also regional and global issues.
