ICC T20I Rankings: Hardik Pandya becomes No. 1 all-rounder after World Cup heroics

NEW DELHI,JULY 3 : Hardik Pandya climbed to the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I all-rounder ranking after his heroics in the T20 World Cup 2024. The star player rose to two places to go level with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga as the top-ranked men’s T20I all-rounder. Team India’s vice-captain made crucial contributions in their T20 World Cup winning captain with both the bat and the ball. He emerged as India’s hero in the final against South Africa at the Kensignton Oval in Barbados on June 29, Saturday.

Through the entire course of the tournament, Hardik came up with handy cameos down the order and provided the team with crucial breakthroughs. The highlight of Hardik’s performance was the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller on the day of the final that turned the tide in India’s way after South Africa were once cruising in the chase of 177 runs. The star all-rounder finished off the campaign on an impressive note. He scored 144 runs at a strike-rate of 151.57 in six innings across the 8 matches, including a half-century. He scalped 11 wickets in 8 matches with best figures of 3/20 in the final at an economy rate of 7.64.

There were other movements in the top 10 T20I all-rounder rankings as well. Marcus Stoinis, Sikandar Raza, Shakib Al Hasan and Liam Livingstone rose up to one spot each and Mohammad Nabi moved back by four spots to go out of the top five.

In the men’s T20I bowling ranking, South Africa’s Anrich Nortje acheived his career-best 2nd spot. He rose up by seven places and stands just behind the top-ranked Adil Rashid with 675 rating points.

The Player of the Tournament, Jasprit Bumrah, jumped by 12 spots to land 12th position, his highest since the end of 2020.
