Haryana cop, taking a stroll outside home, shot dead by bike-borne men

HARYANA,JULY 3 : An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana Police was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants while he was out on a stroll outside his home in Karnal. The victim has been identified as Sanjeev, posted to the State Crime Branch in Yamunanagar district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Kutail village, Karnal. The victim had undergone an operation recently, due to which he would return home early and used to go for a walk in the evening.

Of the two rounds of bullets fired at Sanjeev, one hit him on the head and the other on his waist. The assailants fled the spot soon after the incident.

He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but was declared dead on arrival.

The police are scanning CCTV footage of the area where the incident occurred in an effort to nab the accused.
