G20 Delegations Welcomed with Cultural Performances from Odisha and Assam

New Delhi, Sept 9 : The G20 Summit under India’s Presidency is about to begin Today. Heads of State of G20 member countries, invitee countries and representatives of international organisations have already begun to arrive, with Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu being the first one to arrive.

Throughout India’s G20 Presidency, the government’s vision has been to portray India’s rich heritage, culture and diversity.

This has been witnessed at every meeting of the G20, leading up to the Summit, wherein delegations were taken to local cultural sites and served regional delicacies. Additionally, to show India’s cultural diversity, G20 meetings were organised across he breadth of the country, covering every region.

This diversity and cultural richness is also being showcased in welcoming every head of delegation who arrives at New Delhi for the grand G20 Summit. On Friday, cultural performers from different states welcomed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Melon, with whom the Italian PM also clicked pictures. Different cultural performances were witnessed by Argentinian President, Alberto Fernandez and Director General of WTO, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Managing Director of IMF, Kristalina Georgieva was seen grooving to the beats of Sambalpuri beats as dancers welcomed her with a traditional folk dance. Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted, “Difficult to resist #Sambalpuri beats. MD International Monetary Fund Ms. @KGeorgieva arrives in India for #G20 summit to a #Sambalpuri song and dance welcome. #OdiaPride”

UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murthy were welcomed with a performance by Bihu dancers, as Minister of Consumer Affairs Food & Public Distribution, and Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey received them.
