G20 Delegates celebrate International Yoga Day in Mahabalipuram

Mahabalipuram,June 22 : Under India’s G20 Presidency, the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) began itsfinal day of the meeting on Wednesday morning,along withthe International Day of Yoga being celebrated at the picturesque Coast Temple in Mahabalipuram.
A refreshing yoga session was organized for the G20 delegates along with the participants of the National Institute of Siddha. About 100 participants took part in this meeting.
The last day of the meeting saw deliberations on capacity building of the ecosystem for financing sustainable development, timely and appropriate mobilization of financial resources for climate change, financing for the Sustainable Development Goals, and capacity building for ecology.
During the second session of the last day, the updated recommendations were presented to the delegates in which ways to overcome barriers to climate-related investments were discussed.
After the conclusion of the meeting, a cultural program was organized for the delegates to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Mahabalipuram. Along with this, a local excursion before the event was also organized for the delegates.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a workshop was organized wherein, Ms. Geetu Joshi, Adviser, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, said that “Achieving the 2030 climate targets will be essential to understanding the financial risks, opportunities, and impacts associated with activities.”
During the workshop, deliberations on how to mobilize climate and social finance to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) took place.
Earlier, on the second day of the Finance Working Group meeting, discussions were held on mobilizing adequate financial resources in time to deal with the climate crisis. Member countries held extensive discussions on reducing carbon emissions as discussed on Monday.
The first two meetings of the Sustainable Finance Working Group were held in Guwahati and Udaipur respectively.
