Former cricketer Vinod Kambli booked for assaulting his wife

NEW DELHI,FEB 5 : Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been booked by the Mumbai Police for allegedly assaulting his wife. Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt, had filed an FIR against him for allegedly abusing and assaulting her under the influence of alcohol in Bandra flat on Friday.

Kambli’s wife has alleged that Vinod Kambli threw the handle of a cooking pan at her due to which she suffered a head injury.

The incident took place between 1 pm and 1.30 pm on Friday when Kambli, allegedly in an inebriated state, reached his Bandra flat and hurled abuse at his wife. He then rushed to the kitchen, grabbed the handle of a pan and threw it at his wife.

Around 3500 people for over 3 lakh domestic violence cases

An officer of Bandra Police said that before coming to the police, Kambli’s wife got herself treated at Bhabha Hospital.

At present no arrest has been made in this case.
