Farmer commits suicide by taking poison after received loan recovery notice from society

Jajpur, April 6 : 66-year-old farmer in Jajpur district committed suicide by consuming poison at his house allegedly after receiving a recovery notice from a society on failing to repay a loan of Rs 90,000 that he took last year.
Nabaghan Dhal of Naubanka village under Binjharapur block took poison on Tuesday evening . Neighbours and family members of the deceased farmer admitted him first in the Community Health Center (CHC) at Binjharapur. Later he was shifted to SCB medical college and hospital where he died on Wednesday.
While his body has been sent for post-mortem examination, police said they have started an investigation into his death. His wife and other family members alleged that he was under tremendous pressure to repay his loan after receiving notice from Primary Agricultural Society of Singhpur village to repay the debt for which he consumed pesticide to end his life.
When contacted Minati Jagdev the Block Development Officer of Binjharapur said ‘ We are investigating the exact reason behind the death of the farmer . The district administration will provide all types of help to the family members of the deceased ‘.
