Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan arrested from outside Islamabad High Court

Pakistan,May 9 :  Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan was arrested by Pakistan Rangers outside Islamabd High Court on Tuesday, Dawn reported.

PTI is also claiming that Imran Khan was pushed by Pakistan Rangers while being arrested and he is injured.

The arrest warrant of Imran Khan was issued by NAB Rawalpindi on May 1 and has been executed by Rangers in Islamabad today.

Confirming his arrest on Twitter, PTI leader Musarrat Cheema said, “They are torturing Imran Khan right now, they are beating Khan sahib. They have done something with Khan sahib.”

After being removed from his position as Prime Minister through a no-confidence vote in April of the previous year, Khan has been linked to more than one hundred incidents. He believes that the US-led conspiracy was aimed at him because of his independent foreign policy decisions regarding Russia, China, and Afghanistan.

PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry also took to Twitter and said that the IHC has been “occupied by the Rangers” and lawyers “are being subjected to torture”.

Another PTI leader Azhar Mashwani alleged that Imran had been ‘abducted’ from inside the court by Rangers.

PTI leader Ch Fawad Hussain took to Twitter and said, “Former PM Imran Khan has been abducted from Court premises, scores of lawyers and general people have been tortured, Imran Khan has been whisked away by unknown people to an unknown location, CJ Islamabad HIgh Court has ordered Secy interior and IG police to appear within 15 min in the court”.

Reports also confirm that Islamabad Police has imposed Section 144 in the capital city and cops claimed that no one was tortured during Imran Khan’s arrest.

Imran Khan’s arrest follows several unsuccessful attempts, including a police raid at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore which he managed to evade successfully.

Pakistan Army on Monday lashed out at former prime minister, saying that the PTI chief has levelled “highly irresponsible and baseless allegation” against a serving senior military officer without any evidence, Tribune reported.

“This fabricated and malicious allegation is extremely unfortunate, deplorable and unacceptable. This has been a consistent pattern for last one year wherein military and intelligence agencies officials are targeted with insinuations and sensational propaganda for the furtherance of political objectives,” stated the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement.
