Eight personnel suspended by Lok Sabha Secretariat over security breach
NEW DELHI,DEC 14 : The Lok Sabha Secretariat has suspended eight security personnel over the massive security lapse that occurred in Parliament on Wednesday, which saw two individuals leaping into the Lower House from the visitors gallery and setting off canisters of yellow smoke.
The personnel were stationed at critical access points, including the entry gate and the Parliament House Entry Area, when the incident occurred.
The unprecedented lapse in security led to a group of intruders gaining access to the Lok Sabha from the visitors’ gallery during the Winter Session proceedings. Four individuals activated coloured smoke canisters and engaged in sloganeering, disrupting the session both inside and outside the Parliament premises.
Following the security breach, five accused have been detained by police. The Home Ministry has initiated a high-level investigation into the incident, appointing the chief of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to lead the probe.
