Congress outs 1st list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana
NEW DELHI,OCTO 15 : The Congress party on Sunday released the first list of candidates for Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh assembly elections, all scheduled for later this year.

In Madhya Pradesh, former CM Kamal Nath has been fielded for the Chhindwara seat. Meanwhile, former CM Digvijay Singh’s brother Lakshman Singh has been fielded from Chachoura.

He was elected as a Congress MLA from the Raghogarh assembly constituency in 1993, which Digivijaya had previously held. Besides, the former CM’s son Jaivardhan Singh has been fielded from the Raghogarh seat.
Congress has fielded Vikram Mastal from the Budhni constituency, the same seat where BJP has fielded Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Besides, Congress has fielded Ajay Singh Rahul from Churhat, Jitu Patwari from Rau, Hemant Katare from Ater, Vikrant Bhuria from Jhabua.
In the first list, Congress fielded candidates in 30 ST community constituencies and in 22 SC community seats. The MP assembly elections will take place on November 17, in a single phase and results will be announced on December 3.
In Chhattisgarh, Deputy CM TS Singh Deo has been retained from his bastion, Ambikapur. Besides, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will fight from Patan.
Baghel has represented Patan since 2003 and served as the Chhattisgarh Congress chief from 2014 to 2019. He will be facing his distant nephew and BJP leader Vijay Baghel in the Patan seat.
Congress leader Amarjeet Bhagat has been fielded from the Sitapur assembly constituency, where he has won the seat four times.
14 out of 30 candidates announced in Chhattisgarh belong to the ST community. Besides, three women have been given tickets, as per the first list. Congress has also given tickets to the MLAs who had been facing anti-incumbency in their seats as per the party’s internal survey.
In Chhattisgarh, voting will take place in two phases — November 7 and November 17, and results will be declared on December 3.
Congress announced 55 candidates for the Telangana assembly elections. While Anumula Revanth Reddy has been fielded from Kodangal, Uttam Kumar Reddy is contesting from Huzurnagar.
Among other prominent names is Dasari Seethakka, who will contest from Mulugu, Mynampally Rohit Rao from Medak and Mynampally Hanumanth Rao from Malkajgiri.
Telangana will go to polls on November 30 and results will be declared on December 3.
