Comedian Shyam Rangeela feeds nilgai in PM Modi’s get-up, served notice for violating norm

Jaipur,Apr 17:  A notice was served to mimicry artist and comedian Shyam Rangeela to appear before the Regional Forest Officer, Jaipur, on Monday, after a video of him feeding a nilgai in the city’s Jhalana Leopard Reserve, in an attire similar to that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s jungle visit, went viral.

The comedian filmed a video of himself in attire similar to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore during his recent jungle safari in Karnataka’s Bandipur Tiger Reserves. However, Shyam has been served a notice as he allegedly violated provisions under the Wildlife Protection Act while feeding a nilgai during a jungle safari in Jaipur’s Jhalana.

In clothes and appearance akin to PM Modi’s recent visit to Karnataka’s jungle safari, Shyam was seen donning a hat, sunglasses and a half-sleeved jacket. The visuals of his visit to the safari were doing the rounds on social media and it caught the attention of the authorities, triggering a legal battle ahead.

Jaipur Regional Forest Officer Janeshwar Chaudhary said that a video of Jhalana Leopard Reserve was uploaded on the YouTube channel Shyam Rangeela on April 13. In the video, Shyam is seen getting down from his car and feeding food to a nilgai with his hand.

Feeding or giving food to wild animals is a violation of the provisions of the Forest Act, 1953, and the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
