‘CID’ actor Dinesh Phadnis dies, co-star Dayanand Shetty confirms. He was 57
MUMBAI,DEC 5 : ‘CID’ actor Dinesh Phadnis died on December 5, confirmed his ‘CID’ co-star Dayanand Shetty. The actor was 57 years old. He was on ventilator support. He had been suffering from extensive liver damage.
According to reports, Dinesh Phadnis died at 12:08 am on December 5 in Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital. He suffered from multiple organ failure and was removed from the ventilator last night.
DINESH PHADNIS HOSPITALISED ON DECEMBER 1
Dinesh Phadnis was hospitalised on December 1. Dayanand Shetty, who shared screen space with Dinesh in ‘CID’, had been sharing updates about the actor’s health since then. As per various media reports, the 57-year-old actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

Dinesh Phadnis gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the character Fredericks in ‘CID.’ He dedicated nearly two decades to the show, which was led by actor Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman. ‘CID’ aired in 1998 and has been one of India’s longest-running television series. In addition to his role in ‘CID,’ Dinesh Phadnis made a cameo appearance in the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’
