Chitrotpala Boita Bandan Utsav held in grand style

Large crowd witnesses Odisha’s glorious maritime past

Kendrapara, Nov. 8: Chitrotpala Boita Bandan Utsav, a cultural extravaganza celebrated to mark Odisha’s ancient maritime glory, was celebrated near the shrine of Gadadhar Mahapurusa near Korua High School on Tuesday.

The event started with seven women worshiping a boat as Sadhabanis,wives of Odia sailors.

Jointly organised by Gadadhar Unnayan Manch and Patkura Pragati Manch under the stewardship of Santosh Jena, the event saw attendance by a large number of local people.

Tejewswar Parida, former Khadi Board chairperson, graced the occasion as chief guest. Gayak Bhusan Gopabandhu Nath enlightened the audience through his recitation about the glorious maritime past of the Odias.
