Chandrapur: Samagra Siksha JE’s substandard work defeats Odisha govt’s mission

JE demolishes Kamaragudi school he built in2007-08 in pretext of unsafe

Chandrapur (Rayagada), Aug. 7: Samagra Shiksha, an overarching programme for the school education sector extending from pre-school to class 12, has long way to go in Odisha’s Chandrapur block, largely because of weak and substandard infrastructures built in the recent past by local junior engineer Bikash Mohapatra.

Some school buildings, constructed by the local Samagra Singha junior engineer, are of quite poor quality. Many buildings have also been left half-complete by him. As a result, students and teachers face to find a quality teaching-learning atmosphere.

According to locals, Samagra Shiksha, a sharing programme between the Centre and State, has been hampered by the substandard work done by the engineer Mohapatra who has been posted there for 15 years now.

The engineer did those works under the 5T mission of the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Chandrapur is one of the most backward areas in the state. If such kind of substandard and corrupt practices are done in the area, one can imagine the future of education there.

Many local people’s representatives are planning to visit Bhubaneswar to apprise the mass education minister and secretary about the irregularities.

JE Mohapatra could not be reached as his phone remained switched off on Wednesday morning.

It needs to be mentioned here that the major objectives of Samagra Siksha programme includes the following:

⦁ Provision of quality education and enhancing learning outcomes of students;

⦁ Bridging Social and Gender Gaps in School Education;

⦁ Ensuring equity and inclusion at all levels of school education;

⦁ Ensuring minimum standards in schooling provisions;

⦁ Promoting Vocationalisation of education; ⦁ Support States
