Case against Aaditya Thackeray for inaugurating bridge without permission

MAHARASTRA,NOV 18: A case has been registered against Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray for allegedly inaugurating a part of a bridge without permission on Thursday.

The case was registered based on a complaint by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) against Thackeray for opening the second carriageway of Delisle Bridge at Lower Parel without official permission on Thursday night.

This act was deemed illegal by the BMC as the bridge was still incomplete and not certified safe for use. The civic body expressed concerns over the potential risks to motorists using the bridge prematurely.

The First Information Report (FIR) against Aditya Thackeray, along with Sunil Shind and Sachin Ahir, was lodged under sections 143, 149, 336, and 447 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to unlawful assembly, rioting, act endangering life or personal safety of others, and criminal trespass, respectively.

The Delisle Bridge, a crucial link between south Mumbai and Lower Parel, had been partially opened earlier in June, with another phase connecting Curry Road to Lower Parel opened in September.
