BJP fields ex-MLA Radharani Panda for Brajarajnagar assembly by-poll

Bhubaneswar, May 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the name of Radharani Panda as its candidate for the Brajarajnagar assembly polls.

The Congress and ruling Biju Janata are likely to announce names of their nominees soon.

Ms Panda was the BJP MLA from the seat from 2014 to 2019.

In 2019 assembly elections, she lost to BJD’s Kishore Mohanty by nearly 12,000 votes.

By-polls to the seat has been necessitated following the death of Kishore Mohanty.

Sources said the Congress might prefer Kishore Patel as its nominee. On the other hand, Alaka Mohanty, the widow of Kishore Mohanty, is most likely be fielded by the BJD.
