BALASORE ALLOYS MINE IN JAJPUR CLOSED : DDM

JAJPUR,JUNE 10: The Kaliapani chromite mine, owned by the Balasore Alloys, has been closed again since Wednesday. It is learned that a letter has been written to the company Mining Manager on the basis of a special directive issued by Jajpur Road Circle Mining Deputy Director Bibhuti Bhushan Behera. The letter from the Ministry of Forests, Environment and Climate Change said the Supreme Court has ruled in favour of the mine closure on the grounds that it had not been approved. Mining Inspector Ranjit Das inspected the situation and reported it to the higher authorities. The fate of about 700 workers at the mine now hangs in balance.
