Balangir Forest Division empowers women through impartment of skills

Each beneficiary now earns between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,800 per month

Balangir, Feb.3: Balangir Forest Division has been tirelessly working for empowerment of local women communities. It has started ‘Amar Pasara’ scheme, a unique livelihood intervention initiative under Ama Jungle Yojana.

As per the initiative, around 450 different types of machines, such as sewing machines, paper and leaf plate making machines, biri grinding machines, puffed rice making machines, cow dung log and pot making machines, aromatic oil extraction unit, Sabai rope making machine, tamarind dresseder, Multi Food Processing machine have been provided to 115 Vana Surkshya Samitis (VSSs).

Apart from that more than 200 Vermi Compost Production Kits have also been supplied to 40 VSSs.

As many as 20 beneficiaries of Khaliapali VSS under Patnagarh FMU, Balangir DMU have completed a 3 months Sewing Course, thanks to a partnership between AJY team and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Balangir.

From petticoats to shirts, these skilled artisans are now stitching their way to success, and they are receiving orders from neighbouring villages. Each beneficiary is now earning between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,800 monthly, making an initial success in their journey towards financial independence and happiness.
