Girlfriend blocks calls, man travels from Kanpur to Bareilly, pours petrol on self

Uttar Pradesh,June 23 :  A man from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur travelled all the way to Bareilly after his girlfriend blocked his calls following a tiff. He then went to the fourth floor of her college building and poured petrol on himself, threatening to die by suicide.

What happened?

Earlier, the couple lived in the same locality in Kanpur and had been in a relationship since Class 9. Yogesh quit his studies after completing his intermediate exams and started working in a dairy with his family. Meanwhile, his girlfriend got admission into a pharmacy college in Faridpur in Bareilly.

On Tuesday, the man, Yogesh, snapped at his girlfriend over some issue which led to a heated argument between the two. This upset the woman and she blocked his calls on her phone.

Unable to reach his girlfriend, Yogesh left from Kanpur to reach her college in Faridpur, Bareilly.

After he reached the college, a high-voltage drama unfolded when he climbed up to the 4th floor of the college building, carrying a bottle of petrol. He then poured petrol on himself and threatened his girlfriend to die by suicide.

The man was caught by the college staff and fellow students, who also beat him up. Following this, he was handed over to the police.
