India logs 9,111 new Covid-19 cases, active caseload crosses 60,000 mark
NEW DELHI,APR 17: India recorded a slight dip in the daily Covid-19 caseload, recording 9,111 cases of the infection in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.
On Sunday, the country logged 10,093 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 8.40% and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 4.94%, data from the Health Ministry said.
The active caseload crossed the 60,000 mark and presently stands at 60,313. The total number of active cases in the country comprises 0.13% of the total infections.
According to the Health Ministry data, 27 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, of which six fatalities were recorded in Gujarat, four from Uttar Pradesh, three each from Rajasthan and Delhi, two from Maharashtra and one each from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh. Three deaths were reconciled by Kerala. The total death toll stood at 5,31,141.
The Health Ministry said there were 6,313 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people who have recuperated from the disease to 4,42,35,772.
The national recovery rate stood at 98.68% while the case fatality rate was logged at 1.18%.
