Four dead, nine injured as housing society wall collapses in Noida

Noida, Sept.20: Four dead as a portion of the boundary wall of a housing society here collapsed on Tuesday morning and nine others were injured, officials said. The incident took place at Jal Vayu Vihar in Sector 21, they said.

“Rescue and relief measures have been launched. Fire department personnel and police, including senior officers, are at the spot,” a police official told PTI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives. He also directed senior officials to reach the spot immediately and continue the rescue operations on a war footing.

Noida DM Suhas LY  said, “Rescue operation is underway. Details of the injured people are being ascertained. The area is being searched as a precautionary measure. All teams are present here.”

“Noida Authority had given the contract for drainage repair work near Jal Vayu Vihar in Sector 21. We’ve been told when labourers were pulling out bricks and the wall collapsed. It will be probed. We received information of two deaths each (a total of 4) at District Hospital and Kailash Hospital, but ascertaining details on the injured.” Further details are awaited.
