On camera, Patna bureaucrat thrashes protesting job aspirant holding national flag

BIHAR,AUG 22 : Hundreds of aspirants for teachers’ posts protesting against the delay in their recruitment were lathicharged by the police in Bihar’s capital Patna on Monday. A video from the protest has gone viral, showing a bureaucrat thrashing a protester as he lies on the ground.

The protest was taking place at Dak Bangla Chauraha in Patna. In the video, the bureaucrat, identified as Patna’s Additional District Magistrate KK Singh, could be seen dragging the man and thrashing him while he is lying on the ground and holding the National Flag in his hand. The flag is later snatched away by the police.

A large number of police forces were present at the spot and used water cannons to disperse the protesters. CTET, BTET pass candidates were among the protesters who were demanding the issuing of primary teachers’ recruitment notification.

The protesting candidates said that they are waiting for the recruitment since 2019. For the last 3 years, only assurance has been given from the government, the protesters said.

One of the protesters said that before the formation of the government, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav used to say that the process of recruitment would start in the first cabinet. But nothing has happened so far.

Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav took cognisance of the video and spoke to Patna District Magistrate over the phone. The DM has constituted an inquiry committee under the leadership of Patna Central SP and DDC.

“Nitish Kumar’s police, who talked about giving 20 lakh jobs, beat the teacher candidate who was protesting in Patna in an inhuman way. The Bihar government and its officials not only bled the teacher’s face but also insulted the tricolour. This is the real face of JD(U)-RJD government,” BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said in a tweet.
