Local beat up tehesildar for raiding illegal transportation of gravel

JAJPUR, FEB. 28: Tension erupted on Wednesday in Mundamala village near Odisha’s Jajpur Road town when some locals beat up the Vyasanagar tehsildar Paban Kumar Nanda and other local administration officials during a raid on illegal transportation of gravel.

The villagers, including women, also manhandled the Revenue Inspector (RI) who had accompanied the tehsildar in the raid.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and rescued the tehsildar and other government officials from the custody of villagers.

The police has detained five villagers, including three women, in connection with the case.
