BJD wins Malkangiri Municipalty

Malkangiri ,March 26: In a big jolt to opposition Congress, the BJD on Saturday won the Malkangiri municipality chairman and 14 wards. There were widespread celebration across the town in Malkangiri as Malkangiri remained stronghold of BJD for almost two decades.
BJD maintained its lead right from the beginning of first round. The party won in 14 wards out of 19, while Congress in 5 wards and BJP not opened the book.
Chairman Monoj kumar Barik, BJD secured 7487 voted and won in margin of 1276 votes.
In Balimela NAC there was strong rivalry between BJD and BJP, but BJP managed to win the chairman seat. The BJP chairman candidate Pradeep Kumar Nayak secured 2781 votes and won in a margin of 388 votes .Out of 12 wards in Balimela NAC, 8 won by BJD and 4 by BJP.
