Bhubaneswar, May 27: Senior journalist and Odisha Union of Journalists (OUJ) State Secretary, Prasan Kumar Paikaray, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by American Merit Counseling in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the field of journalism.
Paikaray, who also serves as the Vice-President of Khordha District Press Club, has been an active presence in the profession for the past 26 years. Known for his fearless reporting and dedicated service to society, he has covered some of the most challenging events in recent history — including the devastating super cyclone and the COVID-19 pandemic — often taking risks to bring vital information to the public.
Widely respected among his peers, Paikaray is known for standing by fellow journalists in times of difficulty, often being the first to extend help and resolve their issues.
The honorary doctorate was formally conferred upon him at a special ceremony held at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, attended by several distinguished personalities and members of the media fraternity.
Following the announcement, the OUJ Khordha District unit, various organizations, and intellectuals from across the state extended their heartfelt congratulations to Paikaray for this well-deserved recognition.
