4 persons killed in Odisha as marriage party vehicle rams into paddy-loaded truck

Bhawanipatna, Feb. 22: Four persons of a marriage party were on Tuesday killed while seven others left critically injured after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The tragic mishap took place at Turlakhaman on National Highway 217 under Kesinga police jurisdiction in the district.

As per reports, some people were returning in the morning to Siskela of Bolangir from Pipalpadar after attending a marriage when their boarding vehicle – a Mahindra Bolero – collided with a paddy-loaded truck.

Out of the 11 occupants in the Mahendra Bolero, four persons, including three women, reportedly died on the spot. Seven others were rescued with critical wounds.

Locals with help of police immediately shifted the injured passengers to Kesinga hospital. All of them were later moved to Bhawanipatna hospital after preliminary treatment.

A critically injured child was referred to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla in Sambalpur district.

”The circumstances under which the mishap occurred are not clear yet. We have launched an investigation into the incident,” the local Kesinga police said.
