Bhubaneswar, July 15: Ten children, aged between seven and twelve, on Sunday sustained critical burn injuries as they came in contact with live wire while watching a cultural event at Phasiguda village in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Identities of the children were not ascertained yet, an official source said.
According to sources, a play was being enacted in the village when the mishap occurred. Following a brief spell of rain, the children had taken shelter near the stage. Due to a short circuit, the children got electric shock and suffered burn injuries.
The injured children were immediately rescued and admitted to the community health centre (CHC) in Digapahandi for treatment. However, four of them were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH) in Berhampur after their conditions deteriorated.
