10 cattle died drinking water from a creek mixed with poisonous waste

Jajpur,May 21: At least ten cattle died and four others fell unconscious and sick after drinking water from a creek mixed with poisonous waste, which was allegedly released from a construction company at village Sukutigher under Purunabaulamala Gram Panchayat of Jenapur police station in Jajpur district on Saturday afternoon.
After knowing about the incident, many agitated locals and cattle owners rushed to the spot , and assaulted the employees of the Eversendai private limited.
A veterinary team conducted a postmortem of the dead cattle and samples of their lungs, livers , kidneys , hearts and blood were sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory SFSL) , Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar for testing. After getting the report from SFSL we will know the exact reason behind the death of the cattle . The sick cattle have been given treatment and now they are reported to be out of danger, said Ranjan Sethi, the Block Veterinary Officer of Dharmasala.
An FIR has been registered against the company by some dead cattle owners . Acting on the FIR, police filed a case against the company under the provisions of IPC. We also filed a case against some villagers on Sunday acting on the complaint of the company. No arrest has been made yet, said Umakant Nayak, the IIC of Jenapur police station.
