Balasore will emerge as state’s mega shrimp plant cluster

Balasore, Sept. 6: In a joint collaboration between Central Institute of Brackish Water Aquaculture (CIBA) and Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, (ICAR) under the leadership of young and skillful businessman Anjan Dandapat, a grand meeting was held on Sahada Gram Panchayat campus in Odisha’s Balasore district recently.
Principal scientist of CIBA Akshaya Kumar Panigrahi presided over the meeting.
Mr Pani shared his success story in white shrimp business in presence of the chief guest and Odisha fisheries and animal resources minister Dr Damodar Rout.
(ICAR) -CIBA scientists shared in their speeches elicited the audience about shrimp culture and exhorted the youths who want to become self-employed by adopting the profession.
Balasore Lok Sabha member Rabindra Kumar Jena described the event as wonderful and said prospecting youths would benefit from it. He assured his support if Odisha government wants to set up a shrimp project in the area.
Minister Dr Rout expressed his happiness over Anjan Dandapat setting up a 130-acre shrimp plant.
“I’m happy that young entrepreneurs are coming up to set up shrimp plants. I’m hopeful that in the next 2 years, Balasore will emerge as the next mega white shrimp cluster and the state will register Rs 1000 crore export in the field,’ the minister said.
